What was done:
Recorded wave and current frequency within main pond area of Quincy Bog in Rumney, NH in a group of 3 people.
Measured a distance of about 5 meters between group members and created waves in the water with a clipboard. One group member timed how long it took the waves to get from one group member to the other until an accurate time was found. The waves took between 11-16 seconds to travel about 5 meters.
Were there currents?
Yes and no. My group members and I had to check several areas to find a strong enough current to move something as small as a leaf. Toward the end of the lab period, we finally were able to find a current off the main pond strong enough to push a leaf. Currents were present, but not observable to the naked eye.
